September 17, Mia F. Good choice for my 6th grade quick learner. After reading and listening to as many math curriculum reviews as I could find, I decided on Saxon for my 6th grade son. He can go through a lesson each day independently and then I grade it. The workbook is very well written as far as I can see. August 29, Deborah C. Math Mammoth. My student started with Saxon, switched to Math Mammoth for 4th and 5th Grade, and now wants to return to Saxon because the constant review makes it easier to retain the information.
Although we absolutely LOVED Math Mammoth, even with the chapter reviews and cumulative reviews, my student said she was still forgetting how to do many of the earlier math problems - and this is a very strong math student who really "gets" math. This just doesn't happen with Saxon. I have another student who is more anxious about math and the repetition of Saxon has given him a lot of confidence that he can "do" math well.
Saxon format also eliminates a lot of testing anxiety because there is nothing on the test that is not already VERY familiar and so test performance is not artificially diminished by performance anxiety. August 27, Saxon Math Homeschool Kit. These math books are wonderful. They are very helpful for both teacher and student. August 20, Bobbie M. We are excited to start this next school year. Rainbow resource does not disappoint. July 1, Heather G. This textbook helped the subject stick for my daughter when Singapore, Khan, and Spectrum hadn't worked yes we tried all of those for fractions, decimals, and pre-algebra.
However she has begged me to never make her do Saxon again after this book is done. We have done them over multiple days and have finally settled on just crossing out half the problems so she can get it done in an hour if she stays focused.
